The Daily Awareness Journal was designed to help you start to recognize the areas where you are getting stuck in your own way.  Acknowledge, Ask and Accept are the 3 A’s of Awareness that really helped start me down the right path.

1.            Acknowledge how you feel today.

2.            Ask why you feel this way

3.            Accept it all and move forward.

I begin with acknowledge because there are always so many things on our minds.  What are a few things that are really consuming your mind today?  Are you dreading going to work?  Are you feeling unhealthy with no energy?  Are you having issues in your relationships?  There is no right or wrong way to act, be or feel.  You just have to acknowledge what is going on.

Once you identify some of these thoughts, ask why you feel this way.  Do you really hate your job? Or is your co-worker annoying or the work unfulfilling?  Are you really unhealthy?  Or did you just stay up too late or eat and drink too much the night before?  Are you unhappy in your relationships because you are treated poorly or holding a grudge?  Ask yourself why these thoughts are bringing up emotions.  As you sit and think about these negative thoughts, what is the real issue?

The next step is to get real and accept what is really going on.  You chose your job. The work sucks? Look for a new job.  You chose to stay up late.  You chose to eat or drink in excess and skip exercise.  Go for a walk and go to bed early tonight.  Just do better today.  You chose to argue with that person.  Forgive, learn from it, and don’t fight about it again.   Accept what is and decide how to move forward.

You can’t change anyone but yourself.  Everyone has their own issues and you don’t know what they are really going through.  You be the stronger better person today.  Choose a new positive outcome, habit or thought.  Yesterday is the past and your past is behind you and no longer exists.  Don’t dwell on things that you can’t change.  A daily awareness practice is only the beginning to change.  Stay consistent and focused and it will get easier every day.  Today is a new day and right now is always the perfect time to start.
